    Default Stopped for Shoplifting

My question involves criminal law for the state of: pennsylvania

i am 20 years old and i got stopped at walkmart for shoplifting today. it was under the 25 dollars and the police were not called. they took my info, but i didnt sign anything. I do feel horrible and i just want this to go away, but i dont know what happens next. other info i have seen on here has said i will get a letter in the mail and potentially pay a fine, which i'm fine with. but i am a college student and i work for lowes in the summer and i really need that job. will this show up on my background check for lowes? or for the rest of my life for that matter?

If the police did not respond you will not have a criminal record. If you receive a Civil Demand letter in the mail pay it right away. No one will know about this except you and Walmart. A Civil Demand does not appear anywhere in court records. Don't do it again and you will be fine.

thank you so much. i'm still really concerned about my background check since it will probably be before this whole thing is completely resolved. will that make a difference? im terrified i wont get rehired because of this stupid, stupid action...

I know WalMart uses a database which logs employee's fired for stealing (ESTEEM), I believe they include customers as well. If Lowe's uses this same database chances are it WILL show up, however if they do not use this database then no, you will be fine.
