Default Shoplifting Arrest and Citizenship Application

In september 2008 I was arrested in NY Bloomingdale's for shoplifting an item worth 170$. In court my charges were reduced to disorderly conduct. I plaid guilty and paid a fine of 220$ I also made a restitution to the store. This is my only arrest. My husband is an American citizen. I have a green card since 2007 and I was thinking to apply for citizenship. Will this be considered a crime of moral turpitude?

Default Re: Shoplifting Arrest and Citizenship Aplication

A single petty theft incident is not enough to torpedo a citizenship application.

You can expect to be asked about the incident in detail, however. Be certain to disclose everything, and provide any documentation asked for.
