    Default Bankruptcy and Inheritance

My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: NY

If I have $0 assets in the bank at time of bankruptcy and receive an inheritance within the 180 day time frame after declaring, will the trustee allow me to keep any portion of the inheritance (i.e. the $5,000 or so in cash assets that I am allowed by the state). Thanks.

If you inherit within 180 days of the date your petition is filed, that inheritance will become part of your bankruptcy estate. The trustee will determine if you are entitled to any part. Agree with Mr. Knowitall though - don't count on it.
