Niece Kicked Out at 17

My niece was kicked out of her house, she just turned 17 and lives in MI. If I allow her to move in with me in TX, is there anything I need to do legally? Could her parents do something if they find out and get mad at me?

She is living with a friend right now. I am not on good terms with her parents, but my father told me that they don't care where their daughter goes, she's just not welcomed back into their home. My concern is being that we are not on speaking terms, that her parents would get mad and press charges or something.
