    Default NYC Fare Evasion

My question involves traffic court in the State of: New york

Okay, so today after school i went to my regular train station and pulled out my student metrocard. I swiped in one of the turnstile and it did not work. So i went to another turnstile and it said "Just Used." As i was in a hurry, i crawled over the turn stile. I got caught. The police fined me $100. He took down my student ID card #, my address, my name, and everything. On the ticket he wrote, crawled under to avoid paying legal fares. But i have a student metrocard which doesnt cost my anything...

So basically should i fight it or not?

And what does plead not guilty mean?

Or Should i just pay the fine?

    Thanks.

It's your choice to make, whether you try to fight the ticket or if you choose to plead guilty and pay the fine. If you think you have a defense, why not fight it?
