    Default False ID and MIP

My question involves criminal law for the state of:Michigan

this is not for me but my cousin last night was at a concert hes 18 and had my id on him ( i left it at his dorm last week visting him ) i guess his friend bought him alcohol and he drank to much to quick and went to the bath room to puke, right when he got out a policeman was waiting for him . well he gave him MY id enstead of his and then gave him HIS college id , when the officer asked his name he also told him HIS name , hey ended up going to jail and getting a MIP and on the ticket it also says FALSE IDENTIFICATION , what should he do ? and is that somthing they can charge him with even never admitting he ws trying to use my id? and is there a way i could get in trouble as well? I already left a voicemail for the officer

Of course he can be charged with giving a fake name. That's an obvious potential consequence of committing a crime.

The mere fact that it's noted on his MIP ticket that he used somebody else's ID doesn't necessarily mean that he's charged with doing do.

It is conceivable that you could get in trouble if you knew he was using your ID.
