I'm moving out of state and have a judgment against someone. I have already changed my address on file for the judgment, which was free, but I have a lien against 4 of the defendant's properties, which cost $10 each for the filing fee and another $5 each to be notarized. I'm not planning on staying where I'm moving to for a long time (might be a few months at best, up to a few years at worst), so I'm thinking that I can hold off on the address change until I move again because I'm thinking that IF the defendant tries to sell one of those properties and actually tries to pay me, she'd contact me by way of the address on file on the lien, which is my old address, which is forwarded for up to 1 year. Does this include certified mail, registered mail, etc? And does it make sense to wait until I move again (if it's within a year) to change the address on the liens to save $60? I guess after a year I have no choice but to go ahead and change the address on file anyways, unless certified/registered mail does not get forwarded, then I'll just have to do it now.
