    Default Shoplifted during Paxil withdrawal

I was taking Paxil since last Novembre. I went from 20mg to 40mg in Fev. It did nothing but make me sick and tired. 3 weeks ago i decided not to take it and ween myself off. Bad idea. I started to have new symptoms i didn't know related to the Paxil until i did heavy research. I was having mania and flu like symptoms. During a mania episode i was in an accident. at that time i was experiencing extreme "road rage" and could not concentrate at all. two days later I was caught shoplifting. I tried on some stuff and didn't take it off. went back in the dressing room and just stuffed crap in my school bag. I just wasn't thinking. none of the stuff i stole is stuff that i needed or wanted. I did purchase two things. again i didn't need those either. i ended up giving those a way. i left the store not feeling well and was caught. I ended up stealing about 230.00 worth of merchandise. i was shocked after my mania episode relapsed. I was arreseted and taken to the station. i told them what happened and the officer posted no bond. I went to court last monday and i had an aniexty attack while sitting in court and had to be taken to the hospital. I called an i am rescheduled for next monday. i still don't know what to plead. should i get a lawyer? i am 20 and i live with my parents still. no one knows, which is very hard for me. this is my first and only offense.

It would be wise to consult a criminal defense lawyer.

Yes, it would be wise to get a criminal defense lawyer. It is possible that you didn't really know what you were doing, or couldn't control what you were doing when you committed the act. I don't know anything about mania, but the lawyer might be able to find out if that could be used as a defense. However, criminally insane and medically "insane" are two completely different concepts. You can easilly be one but not the other.
