Default Caught Shoplifting, Police Never Called

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Illinois.

Ok, so I know shoplifting is a dumb and terrible thing, but this is what happened. I was caught by an undercover security officer at Dominicks while I was still in the store. They brought me to a backroom, had me fill out my information, made copies of my ID and the receipts. I ended up paying for the merchandise--$30--and they told me to expect something in the mail that I can pay a fine from between 100$ and 1,000$. Realistically, what will happen? Since no police were ever called is this on my permanent record? Any idea of what the fine should be or will I even have to pay one since I paid for the merchandise?

You are off lucky at this point.

You will receive a Civil Demand. Pay it.

You did not get a Criminal Charge....be happy about that.
