My question involves criminal law for the state of: Indiana

Arrested for magazines in child seat of grocery cart. Did self check-out, took all of groceries out of cart & bagged them at self check-out, paid via debit card, removed bagged groceries from corral & placed into cart. Did not pay for magazines in child seat; had other free magazines had picked up earlier in child seat & simple missed them. Only one other customer in self check-out when I started to go through & none when I finished (took awhile as I had a lot of groceries & attendant even had to come over at toward end of scanning my items to help find a UPC code). Attendant also had to reset the button "attendant notified" for help while scanning multiple items. No check-out lanes open as I would have opted for that d/t multiple items & sincere dislike for self check-out.

Stopped outside of store by unidentified person (jeans, t-shirt, snuff in front lip of mouth, very, very aggressive saying "do you have anything to tell me?"

I said "no" & he said, "come with me; we need to talk."

End result: charged with Theft.

Wondering if I should fight this?
