My question involves a speeding ticket from the State of: California
I received a speeding ticket in a company car - I was making a emergency blood delivery. I was getting off of the freeway and unless you get over into the next lane you are going to miss the street, there were a couple of cars next to me and I had no choice but to speed up or I would have missed the street, if I slowed down I would have missed the street. This was a STAT (HIGH PRIORITY) blood delivery and I was already late because of traffic on the freeway, so I could not afford to miss the street, and be even more late.
I told the officer that I had a emergency blood delivery and before I could tell him why I sped up he told me that that is no excuse for breaking the law. I didn't want to argue because my first priority was to deliver the blood (the hospital was less than 1/2 a mile from the offramp.)
I have a Class A CDL, but the officer wrote that I have a Class C.
Is there anyway to beat this?
I can get a letter from my manager stating that this was a high priority delivery and I also have the invoice which states, STAT.
Thanks in advance for your help!
EDIT: this is a 22350 - "unsafe speed"
