    Question Job Application

    State Florida

I got into some trouble over 20 dollars of stolen merchandise from a wal-mart. I posted here, and got great advice to say I stand mute and ask for a PD. My PD got me a withold of adjudication (im pretty sure thats what it is called) where i have to do 25 hours of community service and a class on shoplifting. Im almost positive that when I finish all of that and pay all the fees, that I will go back to court and the charge will be dropped (someone please confirm that i have it right)

I am right now about halfway through the community service and at the same time I am looking for a job.

Do i need to put the petty theft charge on my application? I have not been convicted and if all goes as planned I believe it will not be on my record at all.

Will it show up on a Background check even though it is still in progress?
(i have not been convicted have I?)

Thanks everyone for the advice last time and thanks in advance this time.

That's how it usually works, yes.

Depends on what the application asks for. Some ask if you've ever been charged with anything. This is rare, though - I've been in the workforce for 25 years, and have only been asked this twice. If it asks if you've been charged, answer yes.

If it asks if you've been convicted of anything, the answer is no, as you've not been convicted (and won't be unless you inexplicably lose your mind and decide not to complete your program).

Will it show up on a Background check even though it is still in progress?
Not all background checks are the same. It may show as a charge on one that does deep digging, and not show at all on a more superficial one.

For all applicants other than those in Hawaii, list all convictions other than minor traffic violations and offenses in the past 10 years. Include all felony convictions.

i just went back and looked and that was the exact wording, so im not going to include anything about it in the application, and then if the backgrounbd check pulls anything up and I will just try to explain why i didnt include it, because it wasnt a conviction etc....

    Blah what a crappy situation.

    thanks.

It would be petty of me to point out that you could have avoided the entire situation by not stealing in the first place, so I won't.
