Default Evading a Peace Officer and Reckless Driving

My question involves a reckless driving ticket from the State of: California

I was convicted of evading police and reckless driving. Now, I know that it is a 2-point conviction. I've been doing some research and I don't have a clear answer on how long it stays on my driving record. Some say 7 years and some say 10 years. If it was 7 years before and the law has changed to 10 years, will it be removed after 7 years since it happened before the law changed. Does anybody know? I just want this to be removed already. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Section Violated: 2800.2
    Violation Date: 04/07/2003
    Conviction Date: 08/12/2003

Read this. Your record will be maintained based upon current laws.
