My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: New York

Hi,

I am renting an apartment in NYC. My new landlord restricts moving in to weekdays only between 8am-4pm. I have a lot of stuff to move and limited help, so I am concerned about being able to move it all in one day, given the time constraints. Don't really want to take another day off work, rent truck for add'l day, etc. because I can't finish by exactly 4.

So I'm wondering what the law says in terms of how much the landlord can regulate moving activity. I figure there must be some limit of reasonableness - e.g., I would guess that a requirement that move in can only occur on Mondays between 8 and 8:15am would be considered an unenforcable constraint.

If there is a legal basis for regulating moving activity, I wonder about the legal definition of "moving". For example, what if I buy a sofa a few weeks after I move in. Is bringing that 1 item of furniture into my apartment considered "moving" and therefore subject to restrictions like the above?

I don't see anything on my lease related to these issues.

Thanks!
