    Default Shoplifting in Texas

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas

My wife was picked up for shoplifting in a store in Houston. Don't want to get into the details about why/how/etc. but the store manager took her into a locked office after she went past the check registers. Called the police and they came out a little later. She was released because she had to pick up our child off of the bus. She was not placed in handcuffs or told she was under arrest. The officer took her DL # and address and said that a unit would be sent to our house after a warrant was issued. Is this common? I would prefer to take her to the station myself rather than have her taken from our house in a cruiser.

What's normal for your county, I can't say. In many states and counties they would issue a summons by mail.

I can't state for sure on your state....

Since she was not jailed...she was likely released on Personal Recognizance.

They'll likely just give her a notice for her arraignment. And another to drop by the police or state sheriffs department to submit her prints and pose for a mugshot. That is how it was here....can't guarantee it, but....

Thats pretty much the way it works in Texas. I'm guessing it was a class "c"?
