Default Collecting Debt Passed the Statute Date in California

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: California

I know the statue of limitations on collecting debt in California is 4 years. Does that mean these new collectors that recently obtained this debt can't come after me? After 4 years it is supposidly written off but I'm wondering if they are legally allowed to come after me once the statue is expired?

Nope. It means if you properly present the SoL as a defense, they cannot receive a judgment through the courts.

No, that does not mean it is written off and even if it were, writing off a debt is a accounting action that deals with the tax situation of the creditor. It has nothing to do with or affect the debtors liability for the debt.
