    Default Destruction of Private Property

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Massachusetts

My friends were skateboarding on private property at night. One of them ended up intentionally throwing his board at the building and it broke a glass door. A camera caught their license plate which was given to the police, they heard on a police scanner the night of the crime. The next day they went right to the business and offered to pay whatever the damages is, hopefully to avoid charges. They said the glass door would be about $1500~ to replace and my friends had to go to the police. They went to the police where they gave their story and are currently waiting for a hearing/trial (they aren't sure which one yet, but the officer said he was recommending a hearing).

I am wondering if I can get an idea as to what is going to happen to them, I know they need to avoid racking up a criminal record. Thanks in advance.

Is this in adult court or juvenile court?

They are all 18, so I believe adult court.

I guess my friends talked to the owner of the building who said he wanted to drop the charges once the door was paid for.

Will this work out for my friends or is it not up to the building owner?
