My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: GA
This was at night and I was pulled over 200 yards from my house. I was approching an intersection and turned left before stopping at a covered stop sign. The police stopped and and told me I had disregarded a stop sign. The next day I looked at the intersecton and found that the stop sign and balk line were a good 15-20 away from the road I turned off at. I turned off before a double yellow line began the decent to the balk line. If I had "legally" stoped at that stop sign balkline I would have to either back up or do a 3 point turn in the middle of the intersection to turn left. I do not feel the stop sign applies to that left turn as the sign was meant for the intersection in front of it where the left hand road cannot be reached at that balkline. I have photos of the intersection if you want to see them. They clearly show that I could not of turned left if I used that stop sign.
