Default Unpaid Taxes Should I Apply for Citizenship

    Hi everyone,

I've been reading the threads and finding some info, but nothing exact to mine.
    so here it goes:

I have some unpaid taxes from the past.
I’m currently working with the IRS on a
    “offer in compromise”
At this point it is not sure if the IRS will take it or make me
pay it off on monthly bases.
I’d like to get my citizenship, however I’m aware of the fact that I have to show a “good moral character”
And not paying taxes is not showing a “good moral character”

There is no criminal charge at all. I'm working with the IRS, a lawfirm is helping me with the paperwork but that's all.

So let say the IRS takes my offer in compromise and I pay it off
in one lump some. How will that affect me getting my citizenship?

Or let say I have to pay it off on a monthly bases.
That basically will take forever. Can I still get my citizenship if I apply for it, or are they going to turn me down automatically?
Has anyone run into a situation like this before?

    Thanks in advance

You DO need to be up to date with your taxes before you file - speak with an immigration attorney though, because a OOC might be enough to satisfy Immigration.

Thank you for your fast reply.

So in other words if the IRS makes me pay it off monthly, and I agree with it, no criminal charges ever filed, not even collection (if I agree with it) that would still not be enough to get my citizenship?
Just asking to make sure I understand it right, that only the OIC would satisfy them.
