My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: California
Hi there!
I was laid off and have elected to receive unemployment insurance through the state of California. I am a software engineer, and am able to do work 100% online ( and have done this in the past). What are the legal implications of traveling ( both within the US and international) while receiving benefits? It is my understanding that i must be actively looking and able to work in order to receive the benefit, which i will be able to do while traveling. The problem is, the forms are sent to one address and my address is changing often ( i had to move out of my house to save cost and dont have a permanent address at the moment). Is it possible to have somebody fill the form out for me?
What would I need to tell EDD if the forms are not sent back in a timely matter and I am scheduled a phone interview while out of the country and somebody had filled the forms out in my behalf? I think i am living up to my end of the bargain by looking for work, but just can not fill out the form. Would EDD see it this way, or would this situation lead to loss of benefit? What would i need to tell EDD to minimize any legal exposure ( if any)?
thanks in advance for any help!
