My question involves a traffic accident in the State of: Indiana
On March 20 we were traveling to Indianapolis on a back highway, when all of a sudden a truck came up on us out of nowhere flagging us over. We were a little apprehensive, but then decided to pull over in a public area. (we were only about 20 mins into our 2 1/2 hr drive) This man proceeded to tell us that we had been hit. Weird thing is we never felt getting hit & there was only 1 time we had been around any other vehicles. There had been a farm truck pulling an anhydrous tank who did not have control. He slowed down & pulled over to the right & motioned for us to pass & the car behind him (who was in front of us) followed right behind the truck. So after making sure the car wasn't passing we proceeded to pass along w/ the vehicle behind us.
We decided to turn around & find this car that supposively hit us, but we never saw anyone pulled off the road. So we just decided to head on to Indy.
Then on March 25th, Thurs., a detective contacted us requesting our insurance information regarding an accident we were in. And on March 27th, Saturday, a whole week later, he delivered 2 tickets to my husband. One w/ offense comment "caused accident then left scene", PDO accident fail to stop over $750 damage. The 2nd, Improper passing to the left. The ticket states offense date 3/20/2010 & time: 4:39. At 4:39 we were in Avon/Indianapolis purchasing tickets for a concert (we have witnesses).
My question is how can we get a ticket for an accident that I don't even believe we were involved in & especially when the time shows that we were somewhere else. And if by chance we did get hit, this person had to have hit us, but again...we never felt a thing.
