My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: California
Hello everybody, I am new to this site and I need some advice. Here is the situation, a good friend of mine is in the process of filing for a chapter 7 BK. Before he filed he gave me some money to hold for him, this was even before he knew that he would be filing. Total I am holding for him is $3284. His attorney asked him if anyone owed him money or if anyone was holding money for him. He gave the attorney my name/address and told him that I was holding a total of $3500. My question is what can the attorney or courts do with my info? what should I do? I have the money but now I want to know what the best method of payment will be? Meaning that if it comes up I can provide solid proof that I repaid him.
I would like to avoid any collectors looking for me, when all I am guilty of is holding money for someone. Thanks for any input.
