My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida
Last night my best friend received an underage possession of alcohol ticket in the state of Florida. She was putting her purse in her trunk when a police officer came over and asked to search her trunk. In the trunk the officer found one jello shot containing Everclear. Even though my friend had not been drinking, the cop immediately gave her an underage possession ticket. The ticket says that she has a fee of up to $500 to pay, but because she is 18 my friend does not have to appear in court. My main question is whether or not this underage possession ticket will appear on my friend's record? If the ticket is on her record, is there anyway she can clear her record of it without appearing in court? She lives in Indiana so appearing in a court in Florida is impossible to do with school. Also, my friend is going to be a freshman in college this fall (2010), so what are the chances that the college she has committed to will revoke her admission if this ticket is on her record? Finally, if the ticket is on her record, how will this effect her ability to be hired for jobs in the future? Please, please answer these questions if you can. Thank you so much!
