    Default Retail Fraud At Nordstrom

I went with my friend to shoplift, this was my frist time ever and I have a clean background. Also she had put a garden tool in my purse to cut the anti theft thingy. Well I took a coach wallet to match my coach purse, and a dog sweater for my chihuahua She was afraid to shoplift since she was convicted before. I was holding onto a wallet she took and just kept it in my hand. Some guy kept following us, we even asked a sales lady and she said oh. I swear everytime I went past a camera I could hear it zooming in on me so eventually we just left I knew I should of put the stuff down. But I got scared and froze I just wanted to leave. Well a guy chased after us and said excuse me miss do you know what you did wrong. Well then they took me in a room and not her, they actually let her go. They took me and she just stood there where we had been caught. It added up to $318, they even raised the prices!! I got arrested and sat in jail till my mom could bail me out. I have a caught date the 31st and it could even be a felonie because of how much everything was worth. I have the money to pay off the store but I cannot pay for a lawyer. I am so worried I do not know what is going to happen. Please someone, anyone help me out!!!

I know how you feel. I was detained at a Nordstrom a few weeks ago. I too was guilty but mine was under 250. I think after reading so many posts, that someone who does know (I'm still asking questions myself, but felt I had to reply) would tell you to request a public defender at the first court date if you can't afford a lawyer. I don't think it is a felony if it is under $500, but it may differ from state to state. I think your best bet is to try to retain a lawyer...I'm so sorry and hope you learn your lesson. Bottom line is that is just IS NOT worth it to steal. The money, the stress, the anxiety, the fear...NOTHING from a store is worth that! Good luck!
