Can I Get Emancipated

My name is Drake Essman. I am 14 years of age. I legally own and operate a 1.2 million dollar business called Silent Modz Inc. I am a very smart and intelligent kid. I face the everyday stress of owning a business and i face the stress of high school as well. I balance the two very well. Lately my parents have been trying to threaten me by closing down my business if i don't do what they say. They have not allowed me to go to my office for 3 weeks, costing me up $50,000 in business profit. They recently allowed me back and all has been going well. Until now they are trying the same thing again. I want to take off on my own and start a living. I already pay a lot of my bills as in office lease, office utilities cost, cell phone bill, advertisement program, liability insurance, internet bill, land-line business phones, etc. I am ready for this world more than anyone, and i don't need anything or anybody hold me back. Please help.

In what state is this?

There is only one state that will even consider emancipating a 14 year old. If you are not in that state, the answer is an unqualified no.

Can you please explain how, as a 14 year old,you have been able to enter into legal contracts such as office lease, utilities, cell phone, liability insurance, business license, etc?

My guess is that it is actually your parents names that has accomplished all of this, am I correct?

Ohio is not the only state in the US that will even consider emancipating a 14 year old. Even if you were in that sole state (California) it is doubtful that you would be able to be successfully emancipated if your parents do not agree.

What's more, in Ohio, there are only two methods of legal emancipation. One is by legal marriage; the other is by enlistment in the active armed forces. For both of them you need parental permission; for both of them you need to be a minimum of 16 and I believe to join the armed forces you must be 17, and if either ends before your 18th birthday the emancipation is automatically rescinded and custody returns to your parents.

At the age of 14, your life belongs to your parents, not to you. If they say no business, then it's no business.
