    Default Squealing Tires Citation

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Texas

I was driving home from dinner and took a turn a little too fast. I was not speeding nor did the police officer ever say I was speeding. My tires squealed a little bit thru the turn. Moments later I was being pulled over. The police officer searched me, searched my car, and gave me a sobriety test. I complied with everything the officer asked. He seemed a bit pissed after he could not find anything on me and ended up writing me a ticket for squealing tires. I called the court today and asked them how much the fine is. $370!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And it is considered a moving violation which will be reported to my insurance. I am so frustrated and upset with all of this.

Can anyone offer any advice as to how I should approach this situation? I'm thinking I could speak with the prosecutor and plead my case to them. But maybe there is a better option?

    Thanks!

I've been trying to find the statute for the citation I have received on http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/ and I am unable to find anything that mentions "Squealing Tires".

I called the municipal court and spoke with a clerk. She said the definition for code 5118 (the citation I received) is "Creating noise on a public street." Could they be any more vague?

I called the court again today and asked them to tell me exactly what law I broke. They couldn't even tell me. She said I can go to the library and look up the Traffic Codes. Seriously??? This is absolutely nuts. How can I defend myself if I don't even know what law I broke?

I suspect it's a local ordinance - what unit of government issued the ticket?

The clerk's office isn't a research service, and I doubt they even have the code and ordinance books in their offices.

I was pulled over by a police officer and he is the one who issued me the ticket.

No kidding. That's not what I asked. Again, what unit of government issued the ticket - the issuing county, city, village, township....
