Me & my fiance are getting married at the local courthouse next Monday. What I'd like to ask today is about changing my name. Since my name is Chinese translated into English, people usually have trouble pronouncing it or spelling it. So I would really love to change my name into something more like American and easier for people to remember. But I'm not quite sure when I can do this, I asked the people at the court house when we went to apply our marriage license, and they told us that I'll have to file out a form and pay $39.00 and go through the judge like American citizens do. But the problem is that I won't be a citizen at all, but I still want to change my name(she also asked me if I have my birth certificate, but I only have my passport). So what should I do? Anybody has similar experience, please share. Thank you very much-!
