Companies investigate false returns all of the time. They have systems now that will flag a person when they are making too many returns or have a strange return history. My company doesn't deal with this cause it is not necessary for us, but I would believe in that situation that the company would be “on the look out" for you and when you return to the store watch what you do and if you make another false return bust you after you've made the false return. The likely hood of them coming after you is not very high.
