Default Statute of limitations on old medical bills

Can someone help with an answer? I live in Pa and my mother was visiting me from South Carolina in 1990. While visiting she had to go to the emergancy and presented her insurance. Her husband was the insured worker. She never heard another word about this until today. In late 1990 she and her husband moved her to Pa. She received and phone call today, 16 years later from a collection agency. They told her she owes this $2000 bill. Is there a time limit on how long they can collect this bill. Must she pay this bill?[/code]

From what you have stated, the statute of limitations should have run a number of years ago. She may wish to draft a version of the sample letter from this thread, to send to the collection agency.
