Default Green Card Holder and Filling Tax

my husband is a Us citizen and i am a green card holder.
in 2009 my husband made less money than what is required to file taxes. so he was told that no need to file taxes. but we always file jointly , me and him. if he does not file , then i will not file too, will this cause me a problem since i am a green acrd holder ? ( i did not work this year, as i just had a baby)
i know i am suppose to file taxes every year but also on the IRS website it tells you that if you made below a certain amount than there is no need to file . will this apply to me as a green card holder ?
    need help please.

If you do not file your joint return, and you had a baby in 2009, then the two of you will be losing out on credits due to you because of the child. That would be rather shortsighted on your husband's part.

Your status as a resident alien is no different than that of a U.S. citizen. How much did your husband make? You should have a tax professional review your situation. You may be entitled to the Earned Income Credit, the Additional Child Tax Credit, the Making Work Pay credit, and other potential tax benefits. You could be entitled legally to a refund of several thousand dollars even if you (meaning you and your husband jointly) did not pay any taxes through payroll withholdings. It should cost you nothing to find out if you qualify for these tax benefits.
