My question involves a security deposit in the State of: Massachusetts.
I moved out of my rental apartment last weekend after which the landlord inspected the place in my absence and emailed me the list of damages.
- Painting due to marks in kitchen near the stove and other places
- removing old and peeling silicone in bathroom and applying new one.
- marks in the carpet near the entrance.
He is deducting the above damages from my security deposit. Can he claim these items which are normal wear and tear items as damages?
I have tried to reason with him but he is not listening.
Also, at the beginning of the tenancy I did not receive a bank statement from him informing me where my deposit was being held.
I have read comments on the internet that the landlord cannot claim for wear and tear. Do the above items constitute normal wear and tear?
Please help!!
Thank You.
