My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Colorado.
I'm 15 years old, almost 16. Both my parents are alcoholics, and we're living in a hotel. We've been homeless since coming to Colorado from Michigan. My dad beats my mom, and we're living off of unemployment checks that are soon to run out.
Anyway, both of them don't wish for me to be around, yet for some reason they wont let me leave. I think that if I talked to them seriously about it, they might accept emancipation.
My question is: If I get a job, one that would support me, could I live in a extended stay hotel [my own room] and have that count as shelter? Pay for everything myself, and such.
Also, off-topic, how would I get a work permit? [for another thread, may hap].
