RE: Washington State
We live in an area that is largely forested - we own 2 acres and another neighbor owns 3 acres of the forest. There is an easement next to our hedge and 3 houses are there - the middle house has decided that all the leaves that land on their property, belong to us or the their next door neighbor, as we own the property on which the trees live. They are now raking everything off of their property back onto ours, between our hedge and fence. They were also kind enough to include their weeds and have also made a habit of throwing any of their yard clippings, sawn off brances, tree stumps etc. into the forest, which is on our property. What are the laws governing leaves/debris and whom they belong to? We keep our yard clean and maintain it as does the other lady that they are doing this to as well. The forest was here when they had their house built here. None of us have planted any of these trees. The amount of leaf clean up they have to do on their property is not an unusually large amount. We're really not into this drama, but would like to know what our rights are.
