Question International Student Marrying to a U.S. Citizen

Hi, I'm currently an international student on F-1 visa, my F-1 visa won't be expired until 2012. Me & my fiance are thinking about getting married this month and start to preparing all the documents for my change of status in the next few months. My current I-20 will be expired on June 15 and I'm graduating from the college in May with an associate's degree in business(finishing my degree in time), and this Fall, I'll be starting another program in another community college.

I'm just wondering, If I have turned the applications for the change of my status before my current I-20 expires (I should be in the wait for my change of status). Will I be able to stay in the states and go to school without an I-20 legally? (because I plan on keep on going to school during the wait and I know I'll be paying out-of-state tuition, I just don't want to waste the time-!) Or do I still need to ask for another I-20 and transfer as an international student to another college during the wait for my change of status?

I'm just not quite sure what to do, any answer or help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you-!

You can attend school with pending AOS based on marriage. Be sure to talk to your school, though, so they know what's going. They may want documentation of your petition.

Thank you so much for your reply. I just don't know what to do with my I-20 because the international student coordinator at the college that I'm transferring to doesn't seem to know how to take care of things like that since they've only had no more than 4 international students. But thank you for your help. I guess I'll still ask the school to see what kind of documentation they would need for that. I just wanted to know if I still need to request for another I-20.
