    Default Emancipation Options

I am currently 17 years of age and will be turning 18 in the fall. I was wondering if I could leave my household due to emotional abuse and other negative behavior. I can not stand to take anymore of this because I am worn thin. I have a safe place to stay with a trusted family member where I can attend a good school. My mother would never let me out of her control, but can I legally leave without her being able to force me to go back? I was told that there was a way, but I want my facts straight before getting into this. Is there any advice that someone could give me?

    Thank you,
    Amanda

Georgia has no emancipation statute. Perhaps you can discuss your options with a guidance counselor at school.
