My question involves criminal law for the state of: PA
I was in Macys with my best friend (we'll call him Peter) shopping. Peter went into the fitting room to try things on. I was heading into fitting room as well, but was redirected to a different fitting room area with a Macy's employee. When i returned to the first fitting room, Peter was nowhere to be found. I texted him where he was, his response was "Where are you?". He never asks me where i am, so it was kind of odd. Couple mins after, i got a phone call from him, it was a police officer saying that he had Peter.
Went to answer their questions outside, I was frisked & handcuffed & brought to county jail along with Peter. They found nothing on me because I didn't steal anything nor did i have any intentions on ever doing so. Went to CJ, had my picture, information taken, finger printed & was stuck in a jail cell. Supposedly I was sent to CJ because i was an "accomplice. But i didn't do anything, i wasn't Peter's "spotter", i didn't take anything. The Anti-theft person claimed that i was helping Peter steal. But there is no evidence of me doing so. If anything, there is evidence of me leaving the first fitting room, so there is no possibility i could have helped Peter steal!
After being stuck there for 10 hours, i was allowed to leave, i do have a court date soon. Unfortunately Peter has to pay 10% of his bond in order to be let out. What can I do? What will happen to me? I need to get this charge off of my records because i didn't do anything.
