My question involves emancipation laws for the State of Indiana:
I am not sure if this is an emancipation question or not-I am very lost on this matter. I have two children - 17 yr old boy who has a respectful relationship with his father. My 15 old has not gotten along with her father for the last few years. I have been divorced from Bill for about 12 years and remarried 7 years ago. Due to all the difficult problems between Jodie and her father-which has caused many emotional problems with Jodie in school. Craig, her step father and I are not believing this is a good idea. We have no extra money at this point-due to job loss and the fact that we almost lost our home. We are a good stable family raising two normal teenagers. Jodie has a lot of anger toward her father due to a situation that happened 4 years ago. At this point, I am going to check into therapy for Jodie. I asked her Dad if he would go with Jodie-but neither child not father are willing to work together. I haven't even been able to pay my divorce attorney for quite a few years. Bill is demanding that Jodie goes with him next week-also accused of us of being ill fit parents. I do not believe that there will be a judge that will agree with that. What are my choices here for a child that down and out refuses to get in the vehicle with him and has told him that she no longer wants him in her life. You can put your foot down that she goes to see him-but she said she is not going. Is there attorney state aid that could help us. I would rather these two work this out-but I don't see that happening. I left this man due to his abusive ways. Quietly, I do understand why she feels this way-but do not voice this opinion. Are there any public services that would help me. It is very hard to watch a child go though this-and it is also to see a father have this happening to him. But, there are reasons for it. Thank you.
