    Default Immigrant's Marriage to a Green Card Holder

    Me and my girlfriend are overstayed immigrants, i came here through b1/2 visa at Dec 99, she's going to get a GC soon, would my status change if we were to marry? and would it make a difference if i have a diploma? Thanks.

    She can petition for you once she is a legal permanent resident, but that confers no special status upon you either to work or to stay in the country - and it will be a considerable number of years before your adjustment of status would be granted. Your best bet if you want to stay in the country legally and to work is to maintain your own lawful status.
