Default Boyfriend's mad and throws me and the kids out

I've been living with my boyfriend (of 4 years) in his room with my two kids one of which is his since December 28, 2005. I've been trying to get an apartment of my own for myself and my two kids. He is allowing me to stay with him until that happens. Whenever he gets mad and throws a fit he holds his room over my head and throws me out with the kids. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you have clothes in the drawers and you've been there for over 30 days arn't you considered a tenant as well. He has made an additional payment of rent to the landlord for the excess power and water to compensate for our use. What are your thoughts?

I think you should consult the local department of social services to see if you can get emergency housing assistance, such that you can set up your own residence and leave this guy in the dust.
