hseven2, they shouldn't be "re-aging" the debt to try to get it onto your credit report. If they try that, I suggest both disputing the entry with the major credit reporting agencies and complaining to the FTC. Note that it is not the statute of limitations on the enforcement of the debt that affects whether it may be listed on your credit report - it's the FDCPA's time limit on how long a debt may be reported after default, generally seven years.
jenk, you're probably in the same situation, although laws are different in each state so you may be dealing with a longer (or shorter) statute of limitations. If there are more details that you would like to share that may shed more light on things, you should start your own thread.
I wouldn't be surprised, were the two of you to compare notes, if you discovered that you were dealing with the same junk debt buyer.
