Seems to be a lot of good information floating around this site. I've reviewed the request for discovery, and will likely use it to build a foundation for contesting a recently acquired award. My citation is in the amount of $798 for speeding ($124) and lack of paperwork ($674); I later found the papers in my car, just not in their proper location.

Of particular interest was a statement that the officer made about his determination of my speed. He stated that I had been "going about 50, but slowed to 40 when" he pulled-up behind me. I saw him approach, recognized the headlight pattern, and insured that my speed was within posted limits before he had an opportunity to stop closing the gap. Essentially, I believe that he marked a visual estimation, at night (no fog/light rain), as his pace speed.

As part of the discovery process, may I request a copy of the video footage from the officer's dashboard camera? What is some appropriate prose for that request? Do I have any grounds for dismissal, should the police department fail to supply such video evidence? This is under the jurisdiction of the city of Redmond.
