Unhappy College Student Charged With First Offense Felony Theft

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Georgia

    Hello All!
I admitted to my job that I took $600 dollars (making it a felony) from my till in order to help pay tuition. I explained my desperation and by the time I admitted it they money was already returned. But now they are saying that they may still press charges even though I confessed and made restitution. I never thought I could go to jail. I am supposed to meet with them tomorrow to learn my fate. I am expecting the worst and with that I need to find out some information. I have never been in trouble, I am a good student, I do volunteer work and I was a good worker at my job having received numerous awards. With that said I am a college student and I can't afford a felony conviction on my record or some hot shot lawyer. I've been reading about Pre-trial diversion options and first time offender options and I was wondering if these options would be something available to me? Any other helpful info would be greatly appreciated as well!
Thank You So Much For Your Time and Consideration

The time to worry about whether or not you can "afford" to have a felony conviction on your record, is before you commit one. You don't get the luxury of committing the crime and then choosing what will be an acceptable punishment.
