    I think I can do a good job. My lawyer has laid the ground work so I feel that I am in good shape.

    Husband wants it to go to trial so the judge can determine who is the best parent to get custody, and who gets marital assets, and if he has to pay child support.

    One parent always pays child support, even in a 50/50 custody split.

    I was a bit snarky in my last post. I should have been more straightforward: it would probably be a mistake for you to try to represent yourself.

    Tell your attorney you're having trouble affording the litigation costs. If you really think there's no plausible chance of reaching a settlement, instruct your attorney not to do any more billable work for you until trial. At the minimum, have an attorney when you go to trial.
