Default A Friend Stole and Wrecked My Car

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Oklahoma

My friends and I went out for an evening and I gave one of them my keys to get something he "forgot" in the car. While he was at the car he decided to go see his girlfriend and took and wrecked my car without my permission. He left the scene of the accident and got a ticket that he plead guilty to and payed the fine. He insisted that he would pay for it so I didn't press charges. But it has been a little over a year and a half and I havent seen any money and he no longer answers my phone calls. What should I do? Can I press charges for him steeling my car? Would I have a good case if I sue him for the money he promised?

the only avenue I see is to sue them for the money. The crime is not up to you to press. You simply file a complaint but as it has been so long, there is not going to be any criminal charges regardless of what you file.
