I can't afford my house payments anymore and my bank won't help me. If I file bankruptcy, how hard is it to find an apartment?

It depends upon the policies of the prospective landlord. Some landlords, particularly those who have few (or one) rental properties, may not even investigate your credit history.
We had to find a new rental home last fall when our landlord decided to sell the house were renting about 6 months into our chapt.13 bk.
I decided to be very open and tell them all right up front when we looked at places and SOME landlords were VERY understanding, and some said "no way" right up front.
I got my free annual credit reports online and printed them out, so I was able to tell them my DW & my own current credit scores up front as well right when we applied, which saved having to pay several 25-50 dollar "application fees" to companies who were just going to say no anyways based on the BK or credit score.
In the end, the realtor from the (large) property management company we ended up renting from was wonderful - he had been there and done that himself and understood how good people get in bad financial shape, so we had no problems at all. The homes owner tried asking for another 50% more on the security deposit as they were concerned about the BK, but he talked them out of it thankfully! Good Luck.
