Default Caught Shoplifting, With Other Charges on My Record

This is related to the post about being caught shoplifting in walmart in caldwell county, nc. This will be my last thread, I know I'm bugging everyone.

What I'm wanting to know is...
I have other things on my record...Trespassing (about 4 or 5 years ago..unintentional but that doesn't matter), something to do with a minor (my friend at the time was younger than me and her mom got mad because I picked her up)...and the big one...2 counts of Identity Fraud (I thought it was dismissed, but after thinking about it I think restitution was paid...i didn't pay it, the "victim" did b/c it wasn't supposed to go to court).

Anyways, when I go to court for the shoplifting/larceny charge (which is a class C misdemeanor, G.S 14-72(a) and G.S. 14.71.1) will they hold those other charges against me? Will I likely go to jail because of it?

    ****
Also, if I get a public defender, will everything be done in one day, or will I have to keep going back to court...or does it vary?

    No.

    No.

It varies. Expect at least one more court date.

    Thank you

One other thing...and I'll be done...is there a difference in saying i want a "public defender" and a "court appointed attorney"? There's not a public defender's office anywhere near my area and I don't want to make myself sound stupid when I go to court when I ask for a PD.

    There's no difference.

Public Defender is the generic term for court appointed attorney.

I would argue the opposite - that "court-appointed attorney" is the generic term. If the county has a public attorney's office and the defendant meets the eligibility rights for appointed counsel then that office will usually be appointed; otherwise, a private lawyer who takes court-appointed cases will be appointed.

But the court will understand what you're asking for, either way.
