My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: IL

I recieved a Alias summons today via handwritten envelope snail mail. It is only one page long. It says the Plaintiff is "successor in interest to Capital One Bank"

It has not reached SOL. I am broke (that's why I havent paid yet), unemployed, no bank account. I want to pay and was going to make payment arrangements once I get a job.

What can I do at this point? Will they settle for less if I show up in court? It's $1000 more already than what I charged. Is it to late to send a valadation letter? Should I just write and have notarized a sworn affidavit denying the amount? How do I file a discovery? There is only a return by date not a court date. What's a written appearence?

I appreciate any help. I am clueless and been researching online all day.
