Not at this time; your friend has not, at the present time, suffered any damages.
Not at any time unless she can prove in a court of law that the other person deliberately or negligently made statements of fact (not opinion - fact) that they knew or should have known were false (not a difference of opinion - false) and that as a direct result of these statements your friend suffered actual damages. The burden of proof would be on your friend, not on the other person.
