My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Oregon
I went through an intersection that had a "Road closed to through traffic" sign posted. I was lost and after going down the street 100yrds or so I realized I needed to turn around. But there was a center divide down the center of the road. So I kept going slowly looking for a good spot to turn around. It had just rained and was dark,no traffic lights, lots of glare from headlights basically very hard to see. I came to the first intersection to turn around but there was a car with its lights on sitting in the middle of the intersection blocking my turn, I pulled along side the car I thought maybe they needed help. I didn't think it was normal for a vehicle to be stopped in the middle of the road. I have a lot of repair experience with cars it's what I do for a living. Found out it was a police officer obviously they did not need any help. So I kept going to find the next avalible turn around another 100yrds further down the street. The officer pulled right behind me and followed me to the turn around. I pulled over to the side and waved the police officer by they appeared to be in a hurry. But the officer turned on her lights and asked me if I was "Lost" I said "yes; I am trying to find a place to turn around." She said "No you could have turned around earlier". At this point I knew she had assumed I was guilty and wrote the ticket. I was nice but after being told No I left it at that. The road is 1.1 miles long and I was pulled over at the .4 tenths of a mile, and there was still another .7tenths to the end of the road to make it "through" the road. I was lost it was dark and there was a center midian blocking a trun around. The first turn around was where the officer was blocking me from turning. What can I do please help? I can't afford the fine of $346.00 I have a faimily and we have a very tight budget. I don't want to just pay it or give up with a no contest plea. I feel very strongly I was not in the wrong here. Any advise would be helpful thank you.
