Default Change of Status from J1 to F1, and Two Year Requirement

Hi, i have 2 questions and i will really appreciate if you can provide some help in this regard.

    1. Im on a J-1 Visa with 2 years residency requirement and my visa will expire on 31st Aug, 10. I just checked this link http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/tem...types_4514.htm and it says that countries whoz names are not mentioned on this list don't need to go back to there countries for 2 years. Im from Pakistan and my country name is not mentioned on this list. Does that mean that the 2 years residency requirement on my visa is not applicable anymore?

    2. Im looking to change my status from J-1 to F-1. Can i do it in US without the need to go back to my country? If u think its possible then what u think will be the ideal time to do as im not sure about the processing time.

    Looking forward for your feedback.

    Thanks

    1. That page doesn't exist.

    2. If you want to adjust your status from within the U.S., get your residency requirement waived. Otherwise you will need to go home first.
